Abstract
This chapter examines the philosophical foundations and methodological benefits of incorporating mixed methods within Participatory Action Research. Mixed methods research combines qualitative insights with quantitative findings, thus providing a holistic understanding of the phenomena under investigation. While Participatory Action Research involves research participants in all stages of the research process, combining both methods broadens perspectives beyond the scope of any single research methodology. The chapter contributes to the field by helping doctoral candidates who have employed Participatory Action Research and mixed methods in their research understand how to craft and discuss their philosophical stance.
